Frank Abagnale, Acclaimed Subject of the Book, Movie, and Broadway Play Catch Me If You Can
Sunday, July 22, 9:00 AM - 10:00 AM
Keynote, Frank Abagnale, is one of the world's most respected authorities on forgery, embezzlement and secure documents. Abagnale's life was depicted most graphically in his best-selling book, Catch Me If You Can, which subsequently became a major motion picture as well as a Tony-Award winning musical. |
 |
More than 10 years after the film was released, Abagnale is celebrating his 36th year with the FBI. He was quoted in The Daily Texan on March 11 as saying, "I know that I will always work for the FBI, to continue to give back because no matter how many years I work, it will never equal what I took from this country."
More than 14,000 financial institutions, corporations and law enforcement agencies use his fraud prevention programs. In 1998 he was selected as a distinguished member of "Pinnacle 400" by CNN Financial News – a select group of 400 people chosen on the basis of great accomplishment and success in their fields.
"Abagnale will provide critical information that will help venue managers protect their venue from embezzlement, forgery, identify theft and internet fraud," said John Bolton, CFE, this year's VenueConnect chair. "Catch him at VenueConnect and give your venue the edge against the bad guys by learning from one of the world's foremost (reformed) con men."

Zap the Gap! Making the Inter-generational Workforce Work!
Sponsored by Southern Aluminum
Meagan Johnson, CSP & Larry Johnson, CSP authors of Generations Inc., The Johnson Training Group
Monday, July 23, 11:00 AM - 12:15 PM
Baby Boomers, Gen X, Gen Y… the differences between generations working together today go far beyond work ethic, hair style, types of piercings and tattoos. Differing values, standards of quality and attitudes can wreak havoc or they can be a source of incredible energy and creativity. Based on their new book, Generations Inc: From Boomers to Linksters, Managing the Friction Between Generations at Work, generation expert Meagan Johnson and corporate culture expert Larry Johnson share the unique perspectives of a Gen-X daughter and Baby Boomer dad, demonstrating how each understands, communicates, motivates and manages different generations found in the workplace today.
 |
In this highly charged, participatory presentation, Meagan and Larry Johnson outline the dominant generational forces in the workplace and how each generation's "generational signposts" drive motivation, influence loyalty and the delivery of high quality services. Failure to create a multi-generational team that is efficient, effective and productive puts future growth and sustainability at risk. Ignoring the drastically diverse ways generations learn and communicate with each other is tantamount to turning your back on a tsunami.
This session will provide a roadmap to help you "zap the gap" and ensure the ongoing collaboration, teamwork and effectiveness of the workforce you lead. |
Workshop - Absolute Honesty: Building A Corporate Culture That Values Straight Talk and Rewards Integrity
Larry Johnson, CSP author of Absolute Honest: Building A Corporate Culture That Values Straight Talk and Rewards Integrity
Monday, July 23, 2:15 PM - 3:45 PM
Let's face it. Straight, honest, no nonsense communication in organizations today
is more rare than common. Whether it's fear of reprisal, natural timidity, or not wanting
to hurt someone's feelings, many of us avoid telling the truth when the truth needs to be
told. The same applies to many of those who work for us.
The cost of such reticence can be high. If managers can't get honest feedback from
their subordinates, they, like the emperor in the fable of the Emperor's New Clothes, will
make foolish decisions. If employees can't get honest feedback from their managers,
they don't improve and their poor performance devalues the organization. If team members
feel uncomfortable expressing contrary opinions, the status quo never gets challenged
and creativity dies. |
 |
Larry shows you how to enhance your leadership skills by establishing a new standard
of communication – a standard that encourages creativity through candid discussions,
frank expression of ideas and healthy debate. A standard that tells the truth,
doesn't mince words and is guided by a clear sense of right and wrong.
