Students
Membership
If you are enrolled at a university, college or post-secondary technical school and are actively pursuing a degree in fields associated with venue management or operations and are not employed full-time at a member venue or supplier company, you can join IAVM join IAVM as a Student Member for $75.
Networking
Establish relationships with leaders in venue management around the world by connecting to them at face-to-face conferences or through VenueNet, the industry’s only social media platform.
Internships
IAVM provides an active list of potential internships that help you get your foot in the door of venue management. Check our listings in the IAVM News or our updated announcements.
Scholarships
IAVM offers a variety of scholarships to students for participating in our annual VenueConnect, provided by the IAVM Foundation, Performing Arts Management Conference and Venue Management School through IAVM Regions.
Chapters
Chapters Meetings are grassroots initiatives with Region affiliation designed to enhance member value and to strengthen the industry. These small groups are instrumental in networking and continuing professional development. Visit our Chapters site for details.
IAVM Mentor Connector Program
Mentor Connector matches an experienced mentor venue manager who has demonstrated competency with an individual protégé who has identified a professional development need. Together they create a one-on-one, 12-month program tailored to improve the skill set of the protégé and enhance the mentor’s contribution to the industry. Learn more on our Mentor Connector page.
Certified Facilities Executive (CFE)
The CFE program began in 1976 to recognize excellence in the professional development and competence of public venue managers. The CFE designation says that a venue executive is a skilled manager who is committed to the industry and pledged to continual professional growth and development. Managers who earn the CFE designation are recognized, by those inside and outside the industry, as experts in their profession. Learn how you can become a CFE.
Textbook
If you are a venue management student, the 2nd Edition Public Assembly Facility Management: Principles & Practices Textbook is a great resource. Colleges and universities use this text for their classroom, see a complete list. As an IAVM Student Member you’ll receive a discount on ordering the textbook. IAVM Archives
A fully searchable database that allows you to find references for library and other archived venue management information. Many links take you to articles published in IAVM’s official magazine, Facility Manager.
IAVM Glossary of Terms
Available in a wiki format, the IAVM Glossary is fully searchable and is frequently updated. Access it easily and quickly online or purchase a softbound book.
