Welcome to IAVM's Region 5, serving the states of Virginia, Tennessee, North Carolina, South Carolina, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, Florida and Louisiana as well as Central and South America.
IAVM Region 5 is committed to the future of our industry through education and networking opportunities for its members. In support of that commitment, Region 5 is offering several scholarships in 2020.
- VMS (Venue Management School) Scholarships for both Years 1 and 2 (2 scholarships)
- 2020 Super Regional Meeting Scholarships (3 scholarships)
- 2020 Venue Connect Registrations (2 scholarships)
To be eligible for any of these Region 5 scholarships, the individual must be either:
- An IAVM Member whose facility resides in Region 5, or;
- A non-member working at a facility managed by an IAVM Member whose facility resides in Region 5.
Additional criteria may be described in the instructions and/or application process.
The IAVM Region 5 Bob Scanlin Memorial Scholarship
The Bob Scanlin Memorial VMS Scholarship will fund tuition for up to two (2) individuals to attend years 1 and 2, consecutively, to Venue Management School (VMS) held in Wesley Chapel, Florida at Saddlebrook Resorts. Upcoming program dates are June 6-12, 2020.
The VMS curriculum covers topics such as event management, life safety, marketing and advertising, crowd management and the guest experience. The second year of VMS covers areas such as leadership and image, cost control, risk management and insurance, and strategic business planning. Tuition will include shared-cabin accommodations, all classes, study materials, coffee breaks, Sunday dine-around and graduation night banquet. Other expenses, including travel, are the student’s responsibility.

The IAVM Region 5 VMS Scholarship is presented in the memory of Bob Scanlin, CFE, a past IAVM Region 5 Vice President, IAVM Foundation Board of Trustees member and longtime director of the Georgia Mountains Center in Gainesville, GA. Bob, known for his great sense of humor and unselfish service to Region 5, was the quintessential IAVM professional with a passion for business, leadership and people.
2020 Super Regional Meeting Scholarships
Region 5 is offering up to three (3) Super Regional Meeting Scholarships, which will fund registration expenses.
The Super Region is the combined Region Meeting made of Regions 1, 2, 3 and 5. This year’s meeting will be held in Kansas City, MO over the dates of April 27 – 29, 2020.

2020 VenueConnect Scholarships
Region 5 is offering up to two (2) VenueConnect Scholarships, which will fund registration to the event.
VenueConnect is IAVM’s Annual Conference and Tradeshow. This year’s conference will be held in Long Beach, CA, over the dates of July 26 – 29, 2020.
